Subject:                                     TLB Newsletter August 2010-Cattle rustling, Interior Flash Flood and Prison Time

Dear Travis Lee Band friends, ministry supporters and fans,

Some days one wakes up in the morning and has this constant and overwhelming feeling of being absolutely blessed. Since we embarked on this Faithwalk journey  a little over a year ago I have felt this sense of peace and gratitude to God daily. He is so good all the time!

Just a few weeks ago, Allegra and I visited some good friends who were hosting a house party where someone was making a presentation to sell everyday household projects .  After making the presentation the product spokeswoman offered others the opportunity to join her company and asked the questions "What are your dreams? If you could be doing anything in the world what would you be doing?"

I actually hoped she would not ask me because I knew my answer would not play well into what she was trying to offer.  If I could be doing anything in the world, I would honestly not be doing anything other than what I am doing right now.  God has granted me with such a peace and excitement about this work He has called us to.  He is indeed, overwhelmingly good to us :) It is such a wonderful thing to submit to God's will and obey.   Even when things are hard, when we have driven all night or the car is broken down and I'm being eaten by fire ants, there is still this amazing feeling that God is working this together for His good.

God Bless and I pray you find ultimate contentment in serving our Savior!   Trust in Him Always! Travis Lee

TLB News and Updates

Travis and Allegra experience Texas farm life-try hand at rustling cattle

While doing ministry in the South, Travis and Allegra were looking forward to some quality time visiting family friends at their small Texas farm -or SO THEY THOUGHT.   Little did they know that one of the young cattle was plotting a grand escape during their stay.  All of a sudden, a baby cow leaped over the barbed wire fence and joined some cattle in a neighboring pasture.  Frustrated with the untimely escape, the band's friends saddled up and attempted to retrieve their refugee livestock.  As Travis worked on an interior project, Allegra joined the cow rustling adventure by helping the owners set up a blockade that included a tractor and a truck in order to guide the calf back into its own field.   After several hours of rodeo-like attempts to bring the stubborn animal into captivity, the calf was nearing its own field. However, right as it was entering its home pasture  the  young beast abruptly halted, pondered the situation, and jumped the same fence it had conquered earlier thus returning to its new cow friends in the neighbors field!

At this point, nightfall was quickly consuming the sky and the daring crew was quite discouraged.  Four days  later, the owners successfully retrieved the calf with some masterminded coaxing and tempting food.

Velcro passes at age 40 in iguana years

On Saturday June 26th at 8pm Velcro, the band's pet and traveling road companion passed away while sunning in his loft on the RV.  Having sustained serious injuries from his "frying incident" earlier this spring his death is thought to be related to delayed complications since his diet and instincts had suffered since his trauma.  Velcro was buried under a large tree in Denham Springs, Louisiana.  Velcro was known for his appearance on the cover of the TLB "Beautiful Life" album as well as his arsonist tendencies and martial arts skills against small canines.

TLB RV experiences interior flash flood

While on the 2010 Southern Sweep Tour this summer the TLB was blessed to have free hook up at the Tyler Rose RV park.  Excited because this would be their first time to use the RV for showers and full hook up, the TLB joyously attached to the community water only to observe water flooding out of the back from under one of the beds.  After several hours of unloading their home on wheels and isolating the trouble point the problem was identified.  A small fitting attached to the water heater had broken, causing water to pour directly into the vehicle. The TLB hopes to have the problem fixed soon but in the mean time, no showers in the RV. :)

TLB does time in maximum security prison and rehabs

For some reason the members of the TLB can't seem to keep out of prison and rehabs.  This last tour brought them into two state units and into their first Texas maximum security unit. There they shared the Word of God with some now transformed men who were hungry to worship and know God more.

Band Devotion: Changing the government

1 Timothy 6:17  "Command those who are rich in this present world not to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment."

We all live under the supervision of government.  In most worldly governments those with Wealth, rule. However, according to the Word, the rules and constraints of this world are secondary to the new system God has ordained.   This verse is a prime example of this new government under Christ.

To begin, God, through Paul, tells Timothy to "command those who are rich."   Last time I checked, the only people in this world who COMMAND the rich are the MORE rich and political leaders. As a fellow traveling minister, I know that Timothy wasn't the kind of person who was rich or powerful.  However God changed the rules and told him to take leadership as an ambassador of the TRUTH.

The second thing I see in this verse is that dollars, Euros, properties and possessions are of no value if we choose to put our hope in them.  We need to realize that it is God who gives us our security and "who richly provides us with everything for enjoyment" whether  we have a little or a lot.  Are you living in the worldly system where your confidence comes from your ever fleeting wealth? Your confidence should be in God who will provide for you despite the economy or which political party rules.  If you want to change the government, change the one you choose to live under first!  Live all out for the Kingdom of God!
