Media Fast Guidelines Hey! This is Travis from the Travis Lee Band and I am absolutely psyched to be able to help get you started with the Children's Hope International media fast! A media fast is an event that I’ve seen dramatically impact students and has a potential to be one of the most instrumental ways we can grow closer to God. Think about it. How many bible camps and retreats have had impacting results on your life and the lives of others? A majority of the time those retreats are associated with an absence of distraction. In a media fast we go a step further by setting aside a specific event in order to tune out the world and in return boost our reception for tuning into God and how we can change the lives of the orphans He loves. This will be a radical time of worship, focus and awareness that students may never otherwise experience. Here are some elements that will help this fast to be real and legit! 1) The Contract of accountability To truly be held to your fast, you need commitment. You need to know your not gonna give in and go see a movie with a friend, veg out in front of the TV, or text message a friend. People lived hundreds of years without a cell phone. Can you make it a couple days? The PLEDGE 2) A Media influence evaluation Calculate how much time a week you give to the media and decide to abandon it for three days. Include EVERYTHING! TV, Cell phone, Internet, video games, Ipod, email, text message- Say Good Bye! Then devote that much time to alone time with GOD! Can you do it? Media Evaluation Form 3) Change of Focus Use this event to change the world by giving hope to an orphan. Sponsorship and pledges are easy and a great way to let others know why you are doing what you are. Prepared is also a number of devotions geared entirely at this fast. These bible studies are designed to help you focus in on God, the needs of others and how we can make a difference.
